"We never saw them coming. Not sure they saw us either: not with eyes. They don't have eyes. But they knew where we were better than we did, moved as one, with a ferocity I never saw before from their kind. They tore through us. It was all I could do to run. I looked back once, and that's when I saw him: the Blind King, just standing, a ways away atop the crest of the hill. Watching, he was, moonlight glinting off his twisted crown. I'll never forget how still he seemed. How calm in the face of so much blood and death..."

The Blind King is the name ascribed to the sole former Fjölmine general who retained his strategy and cunning through the corruption and fall of the empire for which he fought. Without cause or orders save the demands of hunger, he now leads bands of Fjölmine ferals in hunting humans with the same organisation and fluency as he had led darting raids and skirmishes on his enemies of yore.

Motivation

The Blind King remembers his purpose, but not clearly. Once, he knows, he was a warrior, a leader of his fellows into combat, a strategist and conqueror. A defender of his people and their realms. Now, though fallen to the same corruption as the rest of his race, he will see that duty upheld. Humans have taken residence in Fjölmine outposts. They must be driven out, slaughtered, and devoured to the last!
